Westwood Kids Ministry
Westwood Kids Ministry exists to bring children into age appropriate WORSHIP where they can BELONG to the family of God, GROW in their relationship with Christ, learn to SERVE and then go SHARE Christ in the world! Westwood Kids is led by a team of staff and volunteers whose passion is children and whose vision is to "Connect Kids to God and to Others"!
Our goal is to provide a fun and interactive program tailored just for kids no matter what age and grade to help them know Jesus and grow spiritually as they build meaningful relationships with other children and adults!
What to Expect on Sundays
Our Sunday services are designed with children in mind. Each child is taught in an age-appropriate environment. From Nursery to grade six our desire is to see each child be cared for in an individual way.
Each of our Westwood Kids leaders has been through an extensive orientation process and has been screened to work with your child. From loving care in the nursery to fun music in our worship environments, your child will be cared for and taught God's Word in a safe, loving and encouraging environment.
Elementary, The Garage (1st - 4th Grades) at 9:30AM
Small Groups (SG) are offered on Sunday mornings. These adult led groups help the children of Westwood grow in their faith. "The Gospel Project" is our discipleship curriculum and is a chronological, Christ-centered Bible study for kids - a journey through the storyline of Scripture. Each session will point to Christ as the hero of the story and show how the gospel transforms hearts and applies to every area of life. It is a chronological study that moves from Genesis to Revelation in three years.
SG is a time for:
- Bible study and life application
- Crafts and games that relate to the lessons
- Interactive discussion
- Prayer requests and group prayer
- Scripture memorization
Club 252 Worship for Kids - Sunday Mornings at 11:00AM
Worship is fun! Each week is full of great songs, videos, stories, and drama. Club 252 Worship is organized around key Bible stories that help kids discover Jesus and reflect His character to the world around them. By fourth grade, we want kids to understand and own three basic truths molded by Jesus in Luke 2:52.
- I need to make the wise choice.
- I can trust God, no matter what.
- I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
3 Basic Truths + 150 Bible Stories + 30 Life Applications = Club 252
OVERDRIVE: PRE-TEEN MINISTRY (GRADES 5th and 6th)
Sunday Morning Small Groups at 9:30AM and Wednesday Night Worship at 6:15-7:45PM
This is a special ministry designed to focus on the spiritual growth of your kids at their specific developmental stage of life (5th and 6th graders). Our heart's desire is to provide an outlet that your kids look forward to learning and applying God's spiritual truths into their daily lives. Because of their uniqueness we minister to them in different ways. The are not "little kids" and they really don't fit in our student ministry. They are in a transitional phase of life and are rapidly changing - physically, emotionally, and mentally. They are dealing with pressures that are unique to them in regards to relationships, family, and challenges at school. This group is constantly exposed to mature issues that they are not equipped to process. They are savvy enough to understand and relate to the world through the Internet and other social media. This ministry will help pre-teens nagivate through these changes in life.
Preschool Ministry (6 weeks to 5K) 9:30 and 11:00AM each Sunday
In The Backyard is our weekly environment created especially for your infant through preschool-aged children. We know things are busy at this stage of life and your children are learning and growing in amazing ways. We believe in an active, hands-on approach to learning with preschool children. So, you can plan on a lot of jumping, singing, dancing, and laughter in every experience. Fun crafts and games are also part of the experience. Each Sunday preschoolers are taught from the Bible in both small groups and large groups. We look forward to helping your preschoolers learn more about God. It is our hope that your child will learn:
- God made me - Psalm 139:13-14
- God loves me - Romans 8:38-39
- Jesus want to be my friend forever - John 3:16
At Westwood we strive to give preschoolers a first impression of their loving heavenly Father. Our teaching process is simple and fun, repeating one basic truth about God throughout the month. We use art, music, crafts, games, and age-appropriate discussions to help preschoolers understand Biblical truths. In large group worship we study one key Bible story and sing some really fun songs. It's all part of the plan to help our preschoolers believe the three basic truths listed above by age five.
Special Needs Ministry - Sunshine Class 9:30 each Sunday
We believe that God loves all children and there is a place for every child at Westwood. Our Sunshine class is designed to share Jesus with children of special needs and to minister to their families. We have specially-trained volunteers who partner with kids to participate in activities.
