The Westwood Executive Team has decided that due to the recent government guidelines and public health officials information in dealing with the COVID-19 virus, the church office has made the decision to practice social distancing -which is to reduce the frequency, proximity, and duration of contact between people.
While we are physically not in the office, many of the staff will be remotely working from home as much as possible. Please note that due to this, the response times will be slower, but we will do our best to return your calls and emails as soon as possible.
A video message from Pastor Kenneth (March 17, 11:03AM)
New information regarding the Coronavirus, COVID-19, and its effect on our nation and state continues to be revealed. Westwood pastors and leaders continue to keep a close eye on the development of this viral pandemic.
We now have 29 confirmed case of Covid-19 infection in Alabama. That number will rise. We heard from our President that this is a National Emergency. We heard today from local and state officials to heed the instructions from the CDC and other infectious agencies who are asking that all large gatherings be postponed or cancelled and the world is responding to this message.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgement”. Our Pastors and leaders believe that our community (Alabaster, Pelham, Helena, Montevallo and Calera) look to Westwood for leadership and “sound judgement” and we want to lead that way.
Based on all the information we have gathered and wisdom from other leading churches within the Southern Baptist Convention, Westwood has moved our services to LIVESTREAM until the end of March and have cancelled ALL campus activities until the end of March. This is not a decision that came easily, because we have been commissioned to share the Good News of Christ, but because of technology we can still get the message out and we will!
After March 31 we will make a WEEK by WEEK decision on whether or not we will meet corporately on Sunday’s and Wednesday’s. Pastor Kenneth will send out notifications to what our weekly status will be.
What to expect going forward:
- We will have constant communication to the body of Westwood
- Our offices will be open as normal throughout the week
- Our staff will continue to minister and be available to minister
What we need you to do:
You can view our weekly worship service by Livestream each Sunday at 9:30am via the App (under “resources”) or Website (gowestwood.org/livestream).
Download our Church App (gowestwood.org/app) or text “gowestwoodapp” to 77977. This will be the best way to stay informed and to be able to watch the Livestream of Pastor Kenneth’s messages.
Ways you can continue to give:
1. You can give ONLINE through the Westwood App or go to our Website, “gowestwood.org/giveonline”.
2. You can send your check via mail to: Westwood Baptist Church, P.O. Box 630, Alabaster, AL 35007
3. Or you can drop your check off at the office between; M-Thurs. 8:00-4:30 and Friday 8-12:30.
Pray! Pray for our country and the leaders who make decisions that they would look to our Lord and Savior for wisdom and direction.
We will get through this and we will better for it, because “And we know that all things work together for good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Rom 8:28
